Certified Inspection Station

Safety Certificate

In QLD, you need a roadworthy / safety certificate, when:

  • Selling a registered vehicle 

  • Transferring ownership of a registered vehicle to a new owner 

  • Transferring a vehicle's registration from another state or territory to Queensland 

  • Re-registering an unregistered vehicle

Trailer Certificate

In QLD, you need a trailer certificate when you:

  • Sell or transfer a light trailer: (ATM of 751–4,500 kg) while it's registered, or if you transfer it from interstate registration. 

  • Transfer registration to a new owner. 

  • Transfer to Queensland registration from another state or territory

Certificate of Inspection

In QLD, you need a Certificate of Inspection for vehicles when:

  • The vehicle is a licensed taxi, limousine, or booked hire vehicle

  • The vehicle is registered in Queensland

  • The vehicle needs to pass a periodic or programmed inspection to ensure it meets minimum safety standards

Certificate Renewal

QLD roadworthy / safety certificates have set expirations allowances:

Private sale: 2months or 2000km

Dealer sale: 3months or 1000km
