Common Questions

  • Even if you're not noticing any issues, it's still a good idea to get your A/C serviced at least once every 1-2 years. The system can lose refrigerant over time, and the components (like hoses and seals) can degrade. Regular maintenance can also include:

    • Refrigerant recharge: The refrigerant level can naturally decrease over time.

    • Filter replacement: This helps improve airflow and air quality.

    • System inspection: Checking for leaks, wear, and any issues that might cause future breakdowns.

By keeping the A/C system in good shape, you'll not only ensure comfort but also avoid expensive repairs down the road.

  • Regular servicing helps identify and address minor issues before they escalate into major, costly problems.

The majority of transmission failures that have come into the workshop are a result of no oil changes and badly oxidised/contaminated fluid - this is something that can mostly be avoided.

Just like you change the oil in your engine regularly, your gearbox, whether manual or automatic, operates on different fluid that also requires maintenance; and if your vehicle is automatic, it also has a seperate filter that requires replacement too.

  • Many manufactures advertise their transmission is 'filled for life' or 'sealed for life' - however, this creates A LOT of confusion and misconception around maintenance.

When you read into it further, this is a simple marketing statement has conflicting meanings across numerous implied circumstances:

    1. these ‘life’ tests based on these claims are often only in line with the length of the life of the warranty period

    2. the ‘life’ statement is in reflection to the life of the oil, not the life of the vehicle

    3. the vehicle manufacture and the oil manufacture often also advertise different servicing statements regarding their products

How do you know what to do? Simply, if it has a drainage hole and a fill plug - it is serviceable to an extent. And from our experience, we have never has a gearbox service that costed a customer more than a gearbox replacement. So we always, always encourage vehicle owners to be proactive in maintenance versus reactive in repairs and replacements.
